Was really up till about an hour ago today as have had three really good reviews on late ro oms then had a crap one on Trip a d viser which nocked me right down

but one of my guests was just telling me she is having a really good time here and really likes her room etc so I told her about the bad review and she said she has never done trip adviser but will make a special effort to give me a good review which has perked me up somewhat. What makes me so cross is when exactly did people stop being able to tell you if they have a problem? or don't like their room? and when did it become the norm to not tell the owner about it when they ask if everything is ok but then complain about it online? grrr

When there became an 'online' to DO the complaining. That's the horrible bit- before, someone could generally tell a couple of dozen people they were upset (and most of those were friends who knew the person was an idiot anyway). Now they can tell a few thousand who don't know them and may not be able to tell the person is regularly an idiot. What it comes down to now is how gracefully you can calm the waters.

Yeah, not much you can do about it, other than vent. You might want to post a management response if you do think that the review is real. (Users with numbered names like that are often fakes.)

Im sorry about that! it sucks when you didnt even know there was a problem to begin with so that you may be able to fix it-thats just a mean spirited person and more than likely is NEVER satisfied or happy.

part of the trouble is I am sure I know who it was and they were booked in by friends ie not their pick but if it was them they were really nice to my face, took cards and said how nice everything was so it is a double kick in the teeth if it was them. If they were PITA's during the stay at least I would be braced for the kick but its the ones that smile to your face and then stab you in the back that really hurt. It hurts me partly because if HGT council had stopped pratting about with my planning permission and granted it two weeks sooner then the window company could have made and installed them in Feb with the others and it would have looked attractive and all the windows would be functional but no so there are 3 rooms with the old windows in because they are very specialised and this is one of those rooms.
but it least it wasnt as bad as this - read the 3rd one down!

Sorry to hear this Cambs, it always hurts. Honestly reading it, she sounds like a ninny and as a prospective guest it wouldn't deter me...look at it this way she did go out of her way to say you were very attentive! If there's something to be improved by what she said then just do the best you can with it and move on. Don't waste too much of your energy on this.
