This forum is a unique and diverse place. We have innkeepers from all walks of life with their own style of innkeeping, and a variety of inns.
We call each other innmates for a reason. Not only do we share some of the bad stuff, give warnings about inferior products or services, we also share the good stuff encouraging one another and trying to help out.
Muirford shared the ebook from a dynamic speaker Marcus Sheridan at the PAII conference. I really dug what he said, I read the whole thing! Here is an article about him "Is Answering Your Customers’ Questions the Best Marketing Strategy?"
So...I read and saw how to blogged about the top 10 pool companies, and this was something people googled and it brought his business back from the brink of disaster.
I did the same. I put together a list of the "Best Places to Elope in SW Virginia" and now when people google they will find this list. BTW it was not easy to put this together, half the places I googled had no info about their elopements, all of them were like a needle in a haystack to get the concise info (sharing that for a reason). So I found those who were simply the easiest, most information, and user friendly. Places I REALLY would recommend if someone asked me.
The point of the author/speaker is that YOU ARE an expert in your field, go ahead and create YOUR TOP 10 List, or whatever you want, YOUR POV is very worthwhile.
Back to my blog article...I emailed each of the top elopement inns and shared this list with them. These are all neighboring inns, so to speak. Within an hour+ from us.
You can guess the rest of the story...not one replied, not one said thank you, nada zilch. It has blown me away really.
I will continue to do what I do, and include references to you, my innmates whenever possible, recommending you to our guests, talking about your places and sharing you on all social media. Thank you for scratching my back, appreciate it!
