Why do you market?

We must toot our own horns. There are hundreds of B&B's out there (thousands, actually) and we have to market ourselves. We've tried different methods such as newspaper advertising which was not very effective, but we definitely find that 95% of our business comes from internet marketing programs..

I paid for an add with the National Health service in this country which negotiates a discount for its employees with companies as we have a lot of medical conferences here so seemed a good group to target as always looking for a bargain. It has only caused trouble so far as when NHS people come who have booked online (ie I have to pay 15% commission) they want the NHS discount on top which is 10% so I have to say no it is only if you book direct. so I am hoping for the future as it lasts a year if not I won't be doing it again as quite expensive.
